Leadership & Governance

Leadership & Governance
The Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust (FRFT) is the central governing authority responsible for all cultural governance, verification systems, identity protections, and advocacy services within our ecosystem. FRFT operates entirely under private trust law, not nonprofit law, and is not affiliated with any city, state, or federal government entity.
FRFT carries out its mission through two official operational arms:
Freedmen Nation – Private Membership Association (PMA)
Freedmen Nation is the membership and verification arm of the Trust.
It manages all components of the PMA Membership & Verification System, including:
-
Step #1: Membership Entry (PMA application)
-
Step #2: Lineage Verification and approval
-
Genealogy submissions
-
Document review
-
Historical research
-
Status placement within the FRFT registry
-
Community and member support services
Freedmen Nation functions solely under the jurisdiction of FRFT. All membership interactions occur within this private PMA structure, separate from state systems.
American Freedmen Legal Fund (AFLF)
The American Freedmen Legal Fund is the legal advocacy and enforcement arm of the Trust.
AFLF manages:
-
Identity and cultural protection
-
Misclassification matters
-
Administrative and legal filings
-
State and institutional engagement
-
Trust-governed grievance response
-
Public advocacy for Verified Freedmen
AFLF ensures Verified Freedmen receive legal protection within the Trust’s governance framework.
