How to Join Freedmen Nation and Become a Verified Freedmen

Are you ready to reclaim your legacy and stand with a community rooted in justice, truth, and historical identity? Freedmen Nation is calling on all those who descend from those formerly enslaved in the United States to join a movement grounded in law, status, and sovereignty. Becoming a Verified Freedmen is more than a title—it’s a powerful step toward economic justice and collective self-determination.

Here’s how to begin your journey:

Step #1: Join Freedmen Nation

Your first step is simple—sign up. Visit www.freedmennation.org/status-check and complete the membership form. This officially enters you into our secure system as a pending applicant.

Once you complete the form:

  • You’ll receive a welcome email confirming your registration.

  • You’ll be guided to Step #2—the most important part of your membership: verification.

Step #2: Upload Your Genealogy Documents

To protect the integrity of our community and legal status, every applicant must submit genealogy documentation tracing their ancestral connection to chattel slavery in the United States.

You’ll upload:

  • U.S. Census records

  • Freedmen Bureau documents

  • Birth and death certificates

  • Any family trees, oral histories, or other proof of ancestral ties

Fast-Track for Immediate Family of Verified Members

If your mother or father is already a Verified Freedmen with Freedmen Nation, your process can be fast-tracked. You only need to provide:

  • Your parent’s Freedmen Nation ID Number

  • Your own birth certificate (proving direct relation)

  • Your parent’s census records or documents already used in their verification

Brothers and sisters work the same way.

Fast-Track for Living Parents of Verified Members

If you are already a Verified Freedmen, your living mother or father can also be fast-tracked. To verify them, simply submit:

  • Your Freedmen Nation ID Number

  • The same family tree you submitted

  • The same census records already on file

That’s it. No birth certificate is required for your parents. We honor the family line already verified and make it easier for them to complete the process.

What Happens Next?

After your genealogy documents are reviewed and approved:

  • You’ll receive a Freedmen Nation ID Number

  • You’ll be issued an official Certificate of Verified Freedmen

  • You’ll gain access to:

    • Reparations programs

    • Legal protections

    • Freedmen-owned economic initiatives

    • Exclusive community services and resources

    • On Boarding and the Cookout

    • You can choose to participate in the Work Groups to build our infrastructure.

    • You can become a Certified Genealogist to contribute to the growth of Freedmen Nation’s population.

    • You can earn a living as a Donor Advocate, who helps fund the Trust for the beneficiaries’ reparations.

Why Verification Matters

This isn’t about a generic racial category. This is about a protected legal status backed by records, law, and Freedmen-specific history. Being a Verified Freedmen secures your place in an exclusive class eligible for reparative claims, policy protections, and economic development that honors our true heritage—not redefined by outsiders.

Join Today. Upload. Get Verified. Reclaim What’s Yours.

The future of justice for Freedmen begins with recognition—and that begins with you.
