Soulaan Merchandising Licensing Enforcement Begins February 1, 2026


Effective February 1, 2026, the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust (FRFT), in coordination with the American Freedmen Legal Fund (AFLF), will begin formal enforcement of Soulaan merchandising licensing.


This enforcement action applies to any commercial use of the name “Soulaan”—including, but not limited to, apparel, accessories, promotional goods, digital products, events, and branded experiences.

What This Means


Soulaan is a protected cultural and commercial identifier. Beginning February 1, 2026:


  • All commercial uses of the name “Soulaan” require a valid license.

  • Unauthorized use will be subject to enforcement, including cease-and-desist actions and other remedies as appropriate.

  • Good-faith operators are encouraged to seek licensing prior to the enforcement date to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Who Must Comply


Licensing is required for any individual, business, or entity that:


  • Produces or sells merchandise bearing the name Soulaan

  • Uses Soulaan in branding, marketing, or promotions

  • Operates events, pop-ups, or digital storefronts using Soulaan

  • Incorporates Soulaan into product names, collections, or collaborations


If it is named Soulaan, it falls within the licensing requirement.

How to Obtain a License


Parties seeking authorization to use Soulaan must initiate licensing inquiries through Freedmennation.org. Licensing review will assess scope of use, compliance standards, and alignment with Soulaan’s protected cultural and commercial framework.

This action ensures:


  • Protection of cultural integrity

  • Prevention of dilution and unauthorized commercialization

  • Clear, lawful pathways for compliant merchandising

  • Accountability and transparency in the marketplace
