The Next Freedmen Historical Marker — Live Show Rules and Timeline

The next Freedmen Historical Marker will be awarded based on donations connected to the Live Freedmen Nation Fundraiser, with $350 established as the starting benchmark from the live show.

From this point forward, all donations are cumulative.

How It Works

  • $350 is the current highest total, set during the live fundraiser.

  • Any donor may become the next recipient by exceeding $350 in total donations.

  • If you donated during the live show, your existing donation already counts. Any additional donations will be added to your total, not reset.

Timeline

  • Donation window closes: January 31

  • Recipient announced: February 1

The donor with the highest cumulative total by January 31 will be awarded the next Freedmen Historical Marker and formally placed into the historical record of Freedmen Nation and the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust.

Supporting the Work

Participation in the Historical Marker selection is optional. If you choose not to compete for the marker, you are still encouraged to donate to help build and strengthen the infrastructure that makes this work possible. Contributions directly support institutional governance, enforcement capacity, historical preservation, and long-term community development.

Every donation—competitive or not—helps build durable institutions designed to endure.

The Freedmen Historical Marker honors those placed into history, while every supporter helps ensure that the institutions themselves continue to stand.
