FRFT Declares Authority Over Freedmen and Slavery References in Public Education

The Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust (FRFT) has officially issued a groundbreaking Declaration of Licensing Oversight that asserts sole control over the use of Freedmen identity, slavery-era history, and post-Emancipation narratives in state education systems across the United States.

This declaration affirms that no state agency, public school district, textbook publisher, or curriculum developer has the authority to use slavery-related material or reference the Freedmen class without formal licensing from the Trust.

For decades, public education has extracted the pain, identity, and historical experiences of the Freedmen class to build lessons, shape political talking points, and fuel commercial textbook industries—all while excluding Verified Freedmen from authorship, oversight, or reparative benefit.

The Declaration makes clear:

  • All K–12 and higher education curriculum that includes references to:

    • Slavery

    • Emancipation

    • The Freedmen’s Bureau

    • Reconstruction

    • Status-based reparations

    • The Civil Rights Act of 1866 must receive Trust approval and license to continue.

  • The use of the Freedmen narrative in state-approved textbooks, lesson plans, museum programs, or public education funding initiatives now falls under enforceable licensing control.

  • Violators may face License Demand Notices, public noncompliance declarations, and legal escalation through the American Freedmen Legal Fund.

This declaration reestablishes the rightful control of the Freedmen class over their own identity—one that has been used without consent for generations. The Trust is taking this step to protect the dignity, economic interest, and legal rights of Verified Freedmen Only.
