The American Freedmen Legal Fund is continuing its public transparency effort connected to Freedom Acres Ranch and the situation involving C.W. Mallory, an Unverified Freedmen landowner.
Because Mr. Mallory is currently unverified, our work is limited in scope. However, one area where we can act immediately is through record retrieval, documentation, review, and public transparency.
That is why this effort matters.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there are 822 records connected to Freedom Acres Ranch. These records include:
91 case reports
339 calls for service
339 corresponding 911 and dispatch recordings
51 field investigation reports
1 jail booking report
Premise history records
The total cost to access these records has been set at $6,576.
These records are not optional. They are the foundation.
Without them, we cannot fully understand the timeline, the pattern of incidents, the law enforcement response, or the documentation behind what has been happening at Freedom Acres Ranch. Without the records, we are left with fragments, videos, statements, and public reports. With the records, we can begin building a complete picture.
The records may reveal:
How often law enforcement was called to or involved with the property
What reports were written after each incident
What 911 and dispatch communications show
Whether there was a pattern of repeated escalation
Whether procedures were followed
Whether civil rights complaints or further action may be warranted
This is why donations matter.
As of now, we have raised $850 toward this records effort, but that is not enough. We still have a long way to go before the full record can be obtained and reviewed.
The cost barrier is high. That is exactly why many people walk away. But if we are going to break the cycle, we cannot walk away from the records.
The American Freedmen Legal Fund is also working toward a broader $60,000 goal to support the Freedom Acres Ranch records effort, legal advocacy work, evidence review, report preparation, public documentation, and related transparency efforts. Once all files are received and reviewed, we intend to release a complete public report on Freedom Acres Ranch.
This work is not about reacting to one video or one moment.
It is about obtaining the records, reviewing the facts, documenting the timeline, and creating a public record that can support accountability.
No truth without records.
No accountability without documentation.
No action without evidence.
Support the work.
