BREAKING: Official Legal Notice Sent to Oakland Reparations Fund – March 23, 2025

Updated: Mar 25

ree

Today, I sent an official Cease and Desist and Demand Letter to the Oakland Reparations Fund after discovering a campaign that misuses the term “reparations” without any Freedmen lineage verification.

This was an effort that had not previously come to our attention and is yet another example of how reparations are being exploited under broad racial terms—excluding the very people to whom they are owed.

We are demanding the following:

• Cease use of the word “reparations” unless recipients are verified descendants of U.S. chattel slavery (Freedmen)

• Revise or remove public language misrepresenting Freedmen reparations

• Publicly clarify the difference between racial equity and lineage-based justice

• Provide a full accounting of funds raised

• Transfer any remaining or excess funds to the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust for proper oversight and ethical use

This is about protecting the legacy, justice claim, and integrity of American Freedmen. Thank you all for your continued support as we fight to keep reparations rooted in lineage—not diluted by generalized racial language.
