Boycott: Mark Fancher – Undermining Status-Based Reparations for Freedmen

The Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust is formally issuing a Boycott Notice against Mark Fancher in response to his public article published by LA Progressive titled “The Folly of So-Called Foundational Black Americans.”

Fancher’s article does more than express concern—it deliberately seeks to dismantle the status-based justice claim of Freedmen by framing it as narrow, misguided, and aligned with adversarial interests. Despite being contacted with a clear explanation of our legal standing and purpose, Fancher doubled down. He chose not to open a respectful dialogue with our Trust but instead stood by the original mischaracterizations.

Fancher argues that if our “enemies” agree with any part of the Freedmen framework, we should abandon the strategy altogether. This logic is not only weak—it’s dangerous. It suggests that our pursuit of constitutional justice should be invalidated by who echoes the language, not by what is lawfully owed. His stance reveals a Pan-Africanist dilution tactic: one that aims to convert specific reparations into global racial solidarity, stripping it of enforceability and U.S. accountability.

Let it be clear:

Reparations for Freedmen are not global, racial, or symbolic.

They are status-based, secured through law, and owed by the United States to those whose federal classification as Freedmen remains unmet with justice.

As a result, Mark Fancher is now added to the Freedmen Boycott List for:

  • Promoting harmful narratives against status-based reparations

  • Refusing formal engagement with the Trust

  • Using media platforms to misrepresent the justice claims of Freedmen

We encourage our network to no longer engage with or amplify Fancher’s work, and we will continue to hold public voices accountable when they undermine the structured pursuit of redress for Freedmen.

This boycott is not about ego—it is about protection.

It is about guarding the legal standing and future stability of our people.
