Our Push for the Congressional Freedmen Caucus Has Already Begun

At Freedmen Nation, we are leading the charge to formally establish the Congressional Freedmen Caucus (CFC)—a political body in Congress dedicated solely to the interests of Verified Freedmen whose ancestors were emancipated from U.S. chattel slavery.
This is not an idea in development. The work has already started.
Certified Letters Delivered to Congress
Since December 2024, Freedmen Nation, through the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust and the American Freedmen Legal Fund, has issued certified letters to multiple U.S. Representatives—including Rep. Burgess Owens—outlining the urgent need for a caucus that represents the legal and historical status of Freedmen. These letters are archived and logged as part of our public campaign.
Why the Congressional Freedmen Caucus?
The current Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) represents a pan-Black political agenda that often overlooks and undermines Freedmen-specific needs. The CFC would correct this imbalance by focusing on:
Status-based federal protections
Verified Freedmen access to economic programs, contracting, and land protections
Targeted educational and housing initiatives
Correct classification under civil rights law—not self-identification or immigrant-led activism
Independent political strategy beyond partisan control
Our Strategy Is Documented and Active
We’ve taken every step through legal notice, public advocacy, and direct engagement to push Congress to recognize Verified Freedmen as a distinct political group with rightful claims under U.S. law. This isn’t about symbolism. This is about structured, enforceable representation—backed by historical documentation and Trust authority.
What’s Next for Freedmen Nation
We’re mobilizing Freedmen from across the country to apply pressure, submit petitions, and publicly demand formation of the CFC. Our verification platform ensures that only Verified Freedmen—not those misusing the name—can be included in this political initiative.
Through FreedmenNation.org, we will continue to publish updates, share letters, and provide tools for direct civic engagement.
