March 6, 2026: One-Year Trust Anniversary Family Verification Recognition

As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust on March 6, 2026, we are highlighting an idea centered on family participation and multi-generational engagement.

The Trust is considering a Family Verification Recognition for the Verified Freedman who helps facilitate the highest number of verified family members, to be acknowledged with a Family Historical Marker honoring stewardship, continuity, and historical preservation.

How Verified Beneficiaries Can Help Their Families

Since you are already verified, you are in a strong position to help your family members move through verification efficiently.

1. Add family members to your family tree

You may add relatives directly to your family tree after they sign up. This helps organize relationships and speeds up review.

2. Family members must complete signup and Step #2

Each family member must create their own account and reach Step #2 of the process.

3. You may help complete Step #2 for them

Once a family member reaches Step #2, you can assist by administering the attachments on their behalf.

Most of the information needed for Step #2 is information you already gathered during your own verification, including:

  • Names, dates, and family relationships

  • Shared historical records

  • Previously collected documentation

4. Work family by family

Start with immediate family and move outward. This keeps the process accurate, organized, and manageable.

Moving Toward March 6, 2026

This anniversary moment is about families standing together, preserving their history properly, and strengthening the Trust’s institutional foundation.
