Freedmen Nation Officially Adopts the Juneteenth Flag as a Symbol of Sovereignty and Honor

On behalf of the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust, we are proud to announce the official symbolic adoption of the Juneteenth Flag as a national emblem under Freedmen Nation. This powerful decision reflects our collective commitment to truth, freedom, and self-determination for all Verified Freedmen under the Trust’s protection.

The Juneteenth Flag, with its iconic bursting star, honors the historic moment when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas were informed of their freedom on June 19, 1865—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. While the flag is widely used during annual Juneteenth celebrations across the United States, our adoption is not merely ceremonial.

For the Freedmen Nation, this flag now carries legal and symbolic significance as a protected emblem of our political identity, cultural integrity, and our ongoing struggle for reparative justice.

Under the terms of the Declaration of Symbolic Adoption, this flag will fly over all public-facing operations of the Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust, Freedmen Nation, and the American Freedmen Legal Fund. It will be displayed during official ceremonies, public events, and in our digital infrastructure as a visual mark of our sovereign position as a people with standing, history, and rights.

This move further clarifies our separation from racial amalgamation and from symbolic gestures unmoored from accountability. For the Freedmen community, symbolism must always be tied to governance, reparations, legal standing, and rightful inheritance—not co-opted by broader movements that fail to name or protect us.

By adopting this flag, we send a clear message:

  • We remember who we are.

  • We protect our legacy.

  • And we will not let history be rewritten without our authority.

We call on all Verified Freedmen, our sponsors, and our institutional allies to honor this symbol and defend its integrity in every arena.

This is more than a flag. This is a declaration of presence.
