The Freedmen Reparations Fund Trust has formally signed the Freedmen Credit Unit Declaration, establishing a revolutionary financial instrument designed to deliver reparative economic justice exclusively to Verified Freedmen.
Known as FCUs (Freedmen Credit Units), these internal credits are not currency. They are private, trust-governed reparations instruments—tracked, protected, and distributed solely within the boundaries of the Trust’s legal and fiduciary authority.
“This isn’t a dream. It’s a functioning system,” said Arthur Watkins Jr., Primary Trustee of the Trust. “Freedmen Credit Units allow us to issue economic support, aid, and opportunity on our terms—without waiting for government approval or corporate grants.”

The legal creation of Freedmen Credit Units (FCUs)

What Happens Next:
Internal Treasury bylaws will govern how FCUs are issued and redeemed
A secure Treasury Ledger will track all transactions
Verified members will begin receiving FCUs based on eligibility, need, and purpose

Key Distinction:
Freedmen Credit Units are not public currency. They are not for sale or trade. Their value is based on what the Trust agrees to provide—housing support, legal defense, land recovery, education aid, or business backing.
