After issuing a formal press release and sending a direct email to Don Keith demanding the removal of his offensive and historically inaccurate video on reparations, Freedmen Nation has received no response. The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), falsely claims that the descendants of Union soldiers are more deserving of reparations than the descendants of enslaved American Freedmen. It completely ignores the centuries of unpaid labor, legal oppression, and systematic economic exclusion inflicted on Freedmen and their families.
We gave Don Keith 15 days to respond, to acknowledge the truth, and to do the honorable thing—remove the video and stop profiting from Freedmen outrage. Instead, he chose silence. Silence in the face of truth is complicity.
Let us be clear: Don Keith is now officially boycotted by Freedmen Nation and the American Freedmen Legal Fund. This means we will:
Encourage all Freedmen and allies to stop engaging with or amplifying his content.
Pressure platforms and organizations to reconsider any affiliations or monetization connected to his work.
Use our network to expose and challenge disinformation that disrespects Freedmen history and minimizes the fight for reparations.
What Don Keith failed to recognize is this: Freedmen descendants are not just survivors of injustice—we are organizers, business owners, legal minds, educators, and builders of our own future. You do not get to profit off our pain, discredit our legacy, or use our engagement to build your brand.
We are done giving attention to those who seek to exploit us.
We are moving forward—with focus, strategy, and power.
Don Keith: You had your chance. You chose silence. We choose accountability.
